Social Life 360 and California’s Self Determination Program (SDP)

Social Life 360 is a community inclusive, structured, skills-based coaching program that was designed with autistic and neurodivergent adults in mind. The program helps adults build meaningful friendships and peer relationships, integrate into their community, become more confident navigating real-world social environments, strengthen social independence, and even navigate dating.

Clients often fund our program through California’s Self-Determination Program (SDP), most commonly under Service Code 331 (Community Integration Supports), and in some cases under Service Code 334 (Individual Training and Education), or Service Code 366 (Family/Consumer Training), depending on how the service is structured within the Individual Program Plan (IPP). The program has also been funded through Participant Directed Services (PDS).

Social Life 360 Is a structured coaching and learning experience

Social Life 360 provides a multi-modal person-centered approach that includes:

  • Private 1:1 coaching sessions

  • Weekly group coaching through Community Calls

  • Structured training modules

  • Participants can reach out for guidance between sessions, as needed

  • A vibrant peer community of clients across California and the country

Participants are not left to figure things out on their own. They are supported step by step as they learn, practice, and apply new strategies in real life.

Everything we teach is broken down into clear, step-by-step strategies using formulas, diagrams, and practical instructions so it actually makes sense for the way our clients think and learn.

This is not a lecture-based class or a passive program. Participants are encouraged to complete structured exercises designed to help them build mastery and apply what they are learning in real-world social situations.

A private online community and interest-based groups

An important part of Social Life 360 is our community of clients and graduates.

These groups provide ongoing opportunities to practice communication skills, engage with peers around shared interests, and build confidence initiating and maintaining interactions in a real-world context.

In addition to our Southern California, Northern California and Worldwide chat groups, participants can also apply their skills in any of our interest-based chat groups, including:

Our work focuses on helping clients take what they’re learning and apply it in real-life environments such as community activities, social events, group settings, and even dating experiences.

How Social Life 360 Fits Within SDP

Service Code 331: Community Integration Supports

Social Life 360 is most commonly funded under Service Code 331 because it supports:

  • Community-based social engagement

  • Participation in group experiences

  • Real-world interaction with peers

  • Development of social confidence in live environments

Clients are not just learning in theory. They are being coached and encouraged to actively engage with others, build relationships, and participate in community life.

Service Code 334: Individual Training and Education (Situational Fit)

In some cases, Social Life 360 may also be funded under Service Code 334 when framed as:

  • Structured social and relationship skill development

  • Step-by-step training in communication and interaction

  • Building independence in navigating social situations

  • Developing skills that transfer across multiple life domains`

The appropriate service code depends on how the goals are written in the IPP and how Social Life 360 is positioned within the budget.

What Social Life 360 Is (and Isn't)

To support clarity for families, Independent Facilitators, and Regional Center staff in understanding Social Life 360:

  • It is not a clinical or medical service

  • It is not unstructured “coaching” without defined outcomes

  • It is not a dating program, dating service, or matchmaking service

  • It is a structured skills-based coaching program

  • It focuses on community integration and real-world application

  • It supports person-centered social, relational, and independence goals

Social Life 360 aligns cleanly with SDP’s focus on independence, inclusion, and community participation.

How to Write Social Life 360 into an IPP

Social Life 360 may support IPP goals such as:

  • Developing and maintaining meaningful peer relationships

  • Increasing participation in community-based social activities

  • Building confidence initiating and sustaining conversations

  • Improving independence in social and dating environments

A person’s goals must be customized to their individual needs and priorities.

We are happy to collaborate with families, Independent Facilitators, and Regional Center teams to clarify how the program is aligned with a client's IPP goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are answers to common questions from families, Independent Facilitators, and Regional Center staff.

Can Social Life 360 be funded through a Regional Center?

Yes, Social Life 360 has been funded for SDP participants across multiple Regional Centers, including:

  • Alta Regional Center (ARC)

  • East Bay Regional Center (EBRC)

  • Golden Gate Regional Center (GGRC)

  • Kern Regional Center (KRC)

  • North Los Angeles County Regional Center (NLACRC).

  • Regional Center of Orange County (RCOC)

  • San Andreas Regional Center (SARC)

  • Valley Mountain Regional Center (VMRC)

  • Westside Regional Center (WRC)

Most SDP participants receive funding for Social Life 360 under Service Code 331 (Community Integration Supports), and in some cases under Service Code 334 (Individual Training and Education), depending on how the program is positioned within the Individual Program Plan (IPP).

In more limited or situational cases, alternative pathways such as Service Code 366 (Family/Consumer Training) have been used. Additionally, North Los Angeles County Regional Center has funded a non-SDP participant through Participant Directed Services (PDS).

Because each Regional Center and Individual Program Plan is unique, the most appropriate funding pathway depends on the individual’s goals, budget structure, and how the service is presented within the plan.

Does the client need a formal diagnosis?

No, Social Life 360 is a fully integrated program that is open to all adults, regardless of diagnostic label. Many of our clients do not have a formal diagnosis but identify as struggling socially or want structured support.

Is Social Life 360 therapy?

No, Social Life 360 is a coaching program focused on skill development, not a clinical or therapeutic service.

Is Social Life 360 a dating app or matchmaking service?

No, Social Life 360 is not a dating app, and we do not provide matchmaking services. We also do not bundle the program with any such services.

We are a structured, skills-based coaching program that teaches clients how to build friendships, navigate social situations, and develop the confidence and strategies to pursue dating and relationships if that’s something they want.

Our focus is on helping clients learn how to meet people, communicate effectively, and build meaningful connections in real-world settings. These are transferable life skills that support independence, community participation, and long-term relationship success.

While some clients choose to pursue dating during or after the program, the program does not match clients with potential partners. Rather, the goal is to help them develop the skills and confidence to create human connection and build relationships on their own.

What comes after the 16-week core program?

After the initial 16-week program, clients have the option to continue with ongoing coaching support, which we call Accelerator.

The purpose of this optional second phase is to support ongoing goal acceleration and maintenance of social independence gains as clients continue building friendships, exploring relationships, and increasing their participation in community life.

During the core program, clients learn and begin applying structured social strategies in real-world situations. Continued support in Accelerator can help them:

  • Build consistency in social routines and habits

  • Strengthen and expand friendships and relationships

  • Navigate new or more complex social situations

  • Maintain and build on the progress they’ve already made

From an SDP perspective, this ongoing support aligns with continued goals related to independence, community integration, and relationship development. It is not a separate or unrelated service, but a person-centered continuation of the skills-based coaching process.

The decision to continue is individualized and based on each client’s goals, progress, and level of independence.
